Sachini (Sam) Guruge

Sachini Guruge is a people-focused HR professional with experience in international human resources, organizational development, and employee relations across Sri Lanka and Canada. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University Canada West and is currently pursuing her CPHR designation through CPHR BC & Yukon.

As the People & Inclusion Coordinator at Squamish Helping Hands Society, she leads HR initiatives for a workforce of approximately 70 employees, building the systems, practices, and culture that support frontline teams working in housing, food security, and community wellbeing. Sachini brings an equity-centered and trauma-informed perspective to the policies, programs, and employee experiences she helps shape. Having navigated her own journey as a skilled immigrant, she understands the challenges and opportunities that come with change, transition, and finding a sense of belonging in a new community. This experience informs her commitment to fostering inclusive workplaces where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
