Fran Hopkins

As a Director with Squamish Helping Hands Society, I bring more than 40 years of experience across community and government sectors from both Canada and Australia. My background includes community-based leadership, community development, housing and support services, and not-for-profit governance.

I am passionate about strengthening organizations that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I bring a collaborative, practical approach to supporting organizational improvement, effective board governance, and strong community partnerships. I am committed to using my experience and perspective to help Squamish Helping Hands Society continue to provide meaningful, compassionate, and impactful services to our community.

I am a first-generation settler living on the traditional and beautiful lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh nation, I am also a mother, a grandmother and a social scientist with a post-graduate degree in Indigenous Studies. I have spent much of my career working alongside families and individuals in both Australia and the Sea to Sky corridor in advocating for accessible and equitable healthcare. Outside of work, I enjoy trail running, cross-country skiing and volunteering as a member on the board of directors for Squamish Helping Hands Society.
