Under One Roof Update
Even though final project approvals are still in works we had an impromptu celebration on November 5th at the sight of Under One Roof as the civil work got started.
Under One Roof is a collaborative project between BC Housing, the District of Squamish, Squamish Helping Hands, Squamish Food Bank, Cutting Barriers Employment Training and other community partners.
The designs are complete and work is underway at the corner of Third and Main streets, starting with the removal of the invasive knotweed.
The team has been working hard to get so many things into one space: 5 types of core needs housing, a commercial kitchen, a grocery-style Food Bank, laundromat, and versatile community gathering spaces.
People will have safe and affordable housing with access to food, support services, and a caring community, all in one location.
Under One Roof is a space not just for our participants but for the whole community where we can gather and connect. Healthier outcomes for more people and a healthier community.
Mayor Patty Heintzman and Mayor-Elect Karen Elliot were on site to help us mark the occasion.
