Artist Call- Squamish Community-Engaged Mural Project

We are seeking artists for community-engaged design and creation of two outdoor murals.

At the intersection of Third Avenue and Main Street in downtown Squamish lies the Squamish Public Library, Under One Roof (UOR) and Squamish Overdose Prevention Site (OPS).

The Squamish Public Library, United Way British Columbia, Squamish Helping Hands Society, and the Sea to Sky Community Action Team are collaboratively seeking artists for two outdoor murals in this neighbourhood.

Project Goals

  1. Create a community-owned place of meaning in Squamish
  2. Facilitate the welcoming community feel of this corner
  3. Provide a platform to connect with more individuals about community engagement
  4. Utilize a community-led model of engagement where the primary purpose is to bring the community together
  5. Engage the community in mural-making as a method of collaborative community-generated expression
  6. Enhance the community sense of pride in place
