This Place Called Homeless Art Exhibit

Giving a voice to the silent among us.

This project gives voice to those in our community who are often silent. The artists being celebrated are homeless or have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives.

“This Place Called Homeless” was formed through a collaboration between Helping Hands Outreach team, the photographers, and Squamish Arts Council who provided funding for the project, who inspire story telling through all forms of art and who have included the show in this year’s Squamish Art Walk.

More Info about This Place Called Homeless:

During the evolution and creation of this project the participants were answering questions about their experiences by taking photographs. The group then came together to talk about their photos, providing the photographers with an opportunity to explore and share their feelings and experiences with each other. The Outreach team invited and worked along side participants to offer an opportunity to learn about therapeutic and documentary photography, to explore ways to express their everyday life and experiences through the lens of the camera.
